The Septuagenarian #3-21

The Septuagenarian is a compilation of blogs, stories and essays that I have written over the past ten years. It is available in both soft cover and Kindle format through Amazon.com.

The contents include the first stories in the Geezer Golf series that deal with my experiences in beginning a new sport past the age of seventy. I have modeled these stories on the people who I have met on the golf course and driving range of my fictional club – Magnolia Glenne. Though my work is a far cry from the humorous golfing stories of P.G. Wodehouse, they are, I think insightful at the least. I have decided to include a few among the blogs on this site. These will appear in The Septuagenarian – Part Deux which should appear in print early next year.

In addition to the golf stories I have included some personal experiences from growing up in suburban New Jersey in the 50s and 60s. These were originally penned for the benefit of my estranged children. After four marriages and multiple relocations, I feel that none of us really know one another, and since reaching septuagenarian status, the prospect of them getting to know what my life has been about seems increasingly narrow.

There are some additional pieces that were written in support of my novels. Many deal with the effect that film noir had on my mind as an impressionable youngster glued to B&W TV where programs such as Million Dollar Movie and Picture for a Sunday Afternoon provided me with glimpses of the Warner Brothers stable of great character actors.
